Dear Harvard alumni/ae:
We would like to thank you for your interest in our Club. We enthusiastically encourage applications to join the Harvard Club of the Republic of China. The Harvard Club of the R.O.C. together with its predecessor, the Harvard Alumni Association of China, has a history of no less than sixty years, including 48 years headquartered in Taipei. The Club was officially registered with the Ministry of the Interior of the R.O.C. in 1996. Throughout its history the Club has sustained a strong commitment to maintaining close ties with our alma mater, to facilitating contact both among area alumni and with other Harvard Clubs around the world, and to serving society at large.
In order to help you better understand the Harvard Club, Club policies are listed below: 1. Events for all Club members are held a minimum of twice yearly to encourage friendship and communication among all members. A Club newsletter is regularly published to keep members informed of Club events and initiatives. 2. The Club regularly hosts or assists Harvard University in organizing lectures concerning various academic or socially pertinent topics and hosts visiting professors, officials, and alumni of Harvard University. In addition, the Club actively seeks to participate in the activities of Harvard Clubs throughout Asia and in other regions around the globe. 3. The Club has established a scholarship for R.O.C. citizens presently studying at or newly admitted to Harvard University. A special committee screens applicants and awards the scholarship annually. 4. The Club regularly participates in other events of an academic or charitable nature.
Permanent membership fee is valid forever and costs NT$15,000 as single payment.
Individuals can apply simply by filling out and returning the enclosed application form along with a passport photo and a copy of the diploma. The Club's Board of Directors convenes quarterly to review membership applications. All applicants will be notified of the Board's decision. Membership approval, and the criteria for such approval, is completely at the discretion of the Club. In practice, the application procedure is quite simple and straightforward, however, all applicants must receive prior approval before acquiring active membership.
